Use what you kill, even if you have to give it out to friends and family to keep it from going to waste; don't overhunt or hunt species that are endangered or important to the balance of the local ecosystem; obey the local laws and practice good gun safety.

Follow all that and I've no problem with you. Hunt for sport, for religious purposes, for fun, for food, for trophies, doesn't matter.

The OP is however focussing on hunting for fun. Like how bullfighting is causing animals pain for fun. Or how throwing fireworks at animals tonight is causing them pain for fun.

And that's perfectly fine just as long as its regulated to ensure the environmental impact is minimal. Where I am from, hunting is only legal on designated hunting grounds during designated hunting season and hunting associations have their own breeding farms where they make sure that the animal population does not decline. So it's all environmentally friendly. And that's the only thing that counts because animals are not people and their pain is irrelevant.

Legal hunting has actually contributed to helping our wildlife.

It's a way to control the population and keep the flora under the carrying capacity of a habitat, its beneficial. Without hunting there'd be overpopulation, habitats would be destroyed and disease/starvation would run rampant.

That can be so, but only when hunters are properly regulated. Unrestricted hunting has lead to several extinctions. Or have you not heard of the dodo?

It's my understanding that wild pigs are a serious threat to farmers both as viscous little murder machines and because they destroy crops and fences and stuff. Pigs in general are nasty things. Like they will eat you down to and including your bones if they are hungry. Sort of like velociraptors only you can eat them back.

I've always found that true hunters and woodsmen generally seem to appreciate the natural world more than the average anti-hunting activist, as they are the ones who go out in the forest and into the brush where others don't venture. They seem to have an understanding of the value of life that's really hard to understand unless you see it first hand.
