Caffeine. Don't forget caffeine.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

What's wrong with a Mormon born with a platinum spoon?

I think he'll be a positive influence on the party, in addition to his policy stances. I like to see Republicans call out Trump when he says/does dumb stuff, but who still support his more "Republican" actions.

Eh, he'll be better than Hatch in the Senate by a small amount. That's about all I can say, overall, there isn't anything special about him at all. Average to mediocre governor who ran a poor Presidential campaign who is now returning to Utah because he wants political office and status back.

Things are looking good for the Democrats going into next year. I hope the momentum can be sustained. Strong candidates and turnout are key.

Strong candidates would make me vote blue 2020. Weak candidates like Hillary need to just get out of the way.

Romney would have been a bit better. Though in the end he probably would have been a one term president and lost to someone like Hillary. *shudders*

You got statistics on that by chance? I'm actually curious.

There's a neat site here that gives a breakdown of U.S. philanthropy.

Cool findings:
America has increased its per capita giving almost every year.
Almost three-fourths of charity is given by individuals, not companies or organizations.
Religious people give more to secular causes than secular people.
Conservatives give 30% more to charity, but most charities are administrated by liberals.
Mississippi, one of the poorest areas in the nation, gives the second most charity (by gross income) (behind Utah).
Americans give 43.9 b. to foreign nations. Britain is the next closest at 4.9 b.
The U.S. gives 1.44% of its GDP to philanthropy. The next closest is Canada at 0.77%.

Church donations put a finger on that scale a bit, which while likely (only saying likely because I’m not looking things up right now) the bulk of that still goes to needy people, it also goes to evangelical efforts including when they’re helping. Not to mention several disparate unrelated small charities cannot get as much value as on centralized entity, especially one bound by its charter to not discriminate.

"Church donations don't count" is a terrible argument that will guarantee you the status of minority party. Of course Church donations count in philanthropy. Churches actively provide homeless shelters, food aid, and psychological help in tens of thousands of locations across the United States. The central government can obviously shift more funds, but that is because they confiscate property en masse in the form of taxes, and not from the compassion of its citizens. The government also prints more money in order to pay for things it has no revenue for, which most people can't do. I'm not against taxes (Christians must accept taxes), but paying taxes is not an excuse to avoid charity.

Well they do always offer prayers and thoughts.

I get that it is infuriating that Republicans refuse to do anything about gun violence, but making fun of prayer is a good way to alienate the large number of religious people in the United States. Prayers for the deceased are respectful.

Honestly surprised you'd say that. Romney is not really moderate. He's a pretty mainstream Republican who, like me and many others, happen to be disgusted with the crazy anti-immigration feeling in the party and like to see Trump called out for dumb stuff he does.

Not really that "moderate".
