That we have more deaths by the hands of Americans with guns then by terrorist attacks by terrorist organizations. Also because of guns we have the most murderous police force in the world. A study just came out that showed over 2000 people a year are shot or killed by police in the US. Lastly over 83K people are injured by guns each year. This is why I hate guns.

88,0000 people die a year from alcohol, roughly 60,000 from illegal drugs, and 480,000 die from cigarettes and tobacco products. This includes other innocent people in car accidents, people exposed to second hand smoke and even, violence, as the drugs can alter their minds, with roughly 46.7% of violent criminals classifying as drug dependent, compared to about 9.4% of the population that use drugs, and drug users being more likely to commit violent crimes in general. 14.6% of marijuana users committed violent crimes, compared to 6.3% of monthly alcohol abusers, and 2.7% of people not on any drugs. [1] Those on the left often ironically argue for legalizing drugs which kill WAY more than guns, like 10,000 murders a year, but not guns because, although guns can be used for self defense and drugs are completely worthless to society other than for recreation, they themselves take drugs, so how can they argue to ban them? It's nothing but hypocrisy, favoritism about their own personal biases on what they want to keep, not death tolls.

Terrorism is a very small portion of all deaths in the U.S., and the big thing is to keep out of the U.S. instead of like countries where it's more common and thousands die a year. Terrorism is more of a problem when it destroys hospitals and that sort of thing, turning an area in to a warzone where 10 times as many people die from starvation and medical problems due to a lack of services rather than the terrorism itself. And that aside, having terrorism as an arbitrary rubric is pointless.

Anyway, nothings you’ve put forth is doable or legal.

It would be doable in almost every other country (free country) on earth.

This isn't really the case like you might think it is.

When I did a comparison of United Nations figures of gun ownership and compared it to the homicide rate, I found that most of the countries with low murders (in to the top 25 lowest) had a higher than average world gun ownership rate, or over 8.9 guns per person. These figures are self reported and some countries, such as Japan, are known to distort their figures specifically for political purposes but, I'll include them anyways. 20 out of the 25 (80%) of countries with the lowest homicide rates in the world had a higher gun ownership rate higher than the world average (or 8.9 guns per 100 people). Of these, 15 had a gun ownership rate higher than 15 per person (60%), and 7 (28%) have a firearm ownership rate of 30 per 100. For countries with the highest homicide rates, 8 out of 25 (32%) had higher gun ownership rate than the world average. Only 2 out of 25 (8%) had a rate at or above 15.0, and zero had a rate higher than 30.0. Essentially, 80% of country's had more than the world average for gun ownership, and 60% had significantly more than the world average, compared to 32% and 8% for high homicides. This means that, country's with high homicides tend to have less guns, and country's with low homicides tend to have more guns, implying a positive benefit for owning more guns. The type of gun also makes little difference, with handguns used for most murders in general (roughly 90% of mass shootings and 98% of regular murders), and the worst mass shooting in the world, in Norway, killing 67 people. So tiny pocket pistols tend to be as lethal as large "assault rifles" or even slightly worse.

Yes I will take a 1% tax hike to get 90% of the american population banned from owning a firearm.

Considering that several mass shooters passed military training (and actually served on top of it), it doesn't.

Don't forget Lee Harvey Oswald had military training, and he definitely could be trusted with a gun. Not.

Or Charles Whitman, who also had military training. Although in that case there was the possibility that an undiagnosed brain tumor affected his behavior. But that fact just proves even more that military training is no guarantee of "good behavior" with firearms.

Turns out, military training mostly makes sure you hit the thing that you're trying to hit, not that you don't shoot at the wrong things.

I could only see an argument for it being justified if the person in question is prevented from functioning safely outside of a mental ward but even then it’s questionable as they’re both a minority among the mentally ill and I don’t imagine they’re given guns anyway.
