I would like to know I have at least 6 bullets on a revolver. One bullet is a high-risk, high-reward scenario. In a situation where you're faced to shoot at someone to protect yourself, you want to be able to further deter that person with the threat of shooting them again.

I also would like to be able to be sure that I can buy ammo whenever I please.

Yes you can. Just carry 100 1 bullet magazines all pre-loaded. We carried at least three pre-loaded magazines when I was in the military
