Well, what I'd do if I won the lottery or was a billionaire would be to immediately tithe ten percent, then satisfy the debts of my entire family, followed by setting aside another ten percent as savings. I would then invest in gold and real estate. Charity would also be a significant matter to me.

Probably spend it all on starting a private game ranch for endangered wildlife in central Africa. A few million should cover buying the land, putting together a private security force, and the exorbitant amount of bribes to officials and local power figures I'll need to dole out in order to be permitted to do this. It should also cover the purchase of endangered wildlife from cash-strapped countries which cannot afford to protect them (looking at you, Zimbabwe), other game reserves both in Africa and elsewhere, and zoos.

Of course, I'll need another few million to keep this place paying for itself. Eventually it's very possible that I could sink an entire billion on a project like this, make it one of the largest privately owned conservancies in the world. It would also function in effect like an easement, since any territory on the ranch would be protected from development or squatting.

I'm thinking something like the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya.
