The world portrayed in that video is some dystopian satire parody of where we are today. If Mr Corperate on the stage had his weapons fall into terrorist hands, he and his executive board would be the first ones on the kill/capture list. May even have his own tech used against him.

This is a blatant attempt at fear mongering and propaganda, and can be dispelled with a small amount of logic and reason.

While there is a point to be raised against autonomous weaponry, as I myself am somewhat opposed to the fact. Any sane corporation would try their best to ensure their weapons are sold to appropriate regimes or abide to drafted legislation that restricts their sale to unstable regimes.

That is to say, this MAY be permitted so long as the policy maker is on their toes and can keep up with accelerating technological progress.

Now now that's going a bit too far, shall we slow down?

But really this worry isn't supposed to be about drones on a second reading. Nor does it seem to be about AI at all, but rather, about the usage of autonomous weapons in warfare. Which does entail a different argument altogether I find.

Nukes don't work like that.

True, they work by splitting the atoms and besides that they require impact. However a nuke is more devastating when you blow it up in the air over pounding it into the ground. Due to these facts, a drone equipped with basically a mini nuclear power plant. Could do more damage, while at the same time dropping more damage on the populace. It would be upon destruction or self destruction that the most damage would be obtained.

This does prove a fair point, this is why I believe that most combat automatons will be Remote controlled like today's drones, or along the lines of a self driving car with guns.

Sorry, but it's called an EMP in the mannerism I am using it as. However, it would also count as a ballistics as well, seeing as the drone is launching other bombs down on the populace.

Edited in; Imagine one drone being able to wipe out all the countries power, electrical devices and etc. If not a small area's a lone, it would become a valuable tool indeed.

Nuclear reactors can explode, but it's not a full fledged tactical nuke incoming detonation, more like a cloud of steam.

On the poll's question of if slaughterbots are a threat to us, I can't help but answer yes.

I mean, I'd consider anything built to kill people a threat to me, being a person.

Although probably not on the same scale as a weapon, true, critical mass events are possible. One such event was recorded at Chernobyl; the steam explosion was followed by a second more powerful event, probably when the now molten nuclear fuel pooled at the bottom of the reactor with now sufficient total mass to reach a nuclear power transient.

Yield was estimated at 10 tons of TNT. Very small weapon wise, but morw than enough to spray radioactive nasties everywhere .

It's no wonder tourism revenue has dried up around Chernobyl.

Chernobyl is pretty creepy. Probably a big part of why people are so afraid of nuclear power in general.
