Actually, when I was much younger, for the longest time, I thought that's exactly what the "hazard" lights switch was. Then I grew up and found out that you can scuttle a car with a bit of effort (far more effort now, with modern cars, though since the on-board computer can actively NOPE idiotic control inputs), even if not a particular button.

Please ignore the millions and millions who successfully fly through the sky at near the speed of sound at near full automation, or are elevated up and down skyscrapers nonstop at full automation, constantly all day every day in near total safety.

Focus only on the occasional accident (except for elevators, cause they really are that absurdly safe) and generalize to doomsday proportions.
