Net Neutrality might not even be needed in the long run, because some major US cities are supposedly going to roll out municipal broadband to go up against private ISPs. If a government ISP isn't doing paid prioritization or capping data as one example, then it just isn't competitive for a private ISP to keep engaging in that behavior; because to their dismay- they would have real competition to worry about.

Different wireless technologies are gradually becoming "good enough" in terms of range and signal to perhaps seriously compete against fixed broadband services. Radio based internet is by definition, cheaper to deploy than fiber or cable. So that is a ton of pressure on established telecoms going forward. If 5G proves itself to be more than just hype, if it can deliver both speed and capacity against existing wired services like DSL or cable.

The reaction to the FCC repeal of Net Neutrality appears to be "throwing everything and the kitchen sink" against big, established ISP corporations. The telecom lobby thought that it'd be better for them overall, that appears to be the case in locales where they have monopoly leverage, but across the board, their future profitability isn't as certain as they expected or wanted.

I don't know to be honest, I guess he shouldn't get death threats. Still, this guy is rightfully so among the most hated people in Government for selling out the internet, the core fabric of almost all communication in the digital age, to those who are bound to exploit and censor for more money. What I am saying is that Ajit Pai personally isn't getting any sympathy or petty from me. The death threats should stop, but aside from that, I could care less about the rightfully angry comments he is getting for selling us out.
