Exactly! :D

I was fortunate enough I could afford a computer. Many of my classmates could not and used the schools computers all the time.

I recently started bringing my laptop, only because I need it for classes. I haven't done it in a long time before then, since it's an HP and a little heavier than the Apple Mac (*blergh*) that most people use. Otherwise I do enjoy going to the library, using the computers, and relaxing.

I hope if you're so sure about how much extra it is going to cost people to use the internet you've gone out and invested in ISP stocks. For this massive boost in revenue their going to be raking in they sure aren't valued at what you'd expect. Sounds like you stand to make a killing.

Again. Ajit Pai was given his job by Obama, not Trump. Obama was also into corporations and corporate power.

Sort of. He was appointed to the commission by Obama, but designated as the chairman by Trump. Mainly because Trump knew he intended to spearhead a repeal, I believe.

This is not how it works. The average guy will still pay about the same, but they will have a much stricter or slower internet to access. It may not be obvious (e.g: Throttling competitors) but it will not be like the internet we have right now. Meanwhile, rich people will pay much, much more to access the real internet. This is how ISPs will make the extra revenue.

Give the ISPs enough time and they'll figure out how to cripple the net. This reform is still fresh but it was implemented for a reason.

The above poster is correct and acruslly sees my fears. Alarmism is good in these times because it helps you prepare for the worse case scenario.

Many of you seem to think that Net Neutrality is only about paying less for the internet. However it is really about keeping the internet open without blocking, throttling and discrimination. Ok, some people have a twisted definition of NN. Without NN the internet can basically become cable with sites only available if you pay, also that it could be used to influence elections by only showing left or right leaning news and block the rest. If you think the fake news storm during 2016 was bad, imagine the fake news and propaganda outlets the internet will become with ISPs under control of everything we see and hear on the internet.

Creating policies that would do great harm to consumers and lying to their faces should be wrong though and against the law.

If you make it a crime to enact bad policies then you'll make it impossible to govern, because no matter what the policy is, there's always some people who hate it.

And no, before you say it, policies you like are not objectively good.

Yes, as long as federal agencies remain within the bounds of the law, even if only technically, they can do whatever the President tells them to do.
