That only reveals that the left has adopted toxic mindsets with regards to its campaigning and the way it conceptualizes both politics and its opponents.
Campaigning against people just for the sake of it based on who they are, rather than the nature of the campaign/statement, is inadvisable both in political support terms (Alienates potential support as they see you flip your shit over innocuous or positive things), and disincentivizes reformation of opponents.

There's been consistent study showing that the way to reform bigots is through inclusion and dialogue that isn't immediately hostile and aggressive.
