What's the problem with that exactly?
Racists acting not racist to wind people up sounds like a bonus. In fact, it presented an opportunity for them to see their sense of being under attack was a lie, and instead progressives validated their views for them, while also alienating moderates.

Like a bunch of Jihadis who decide to post reasonable demands on behalf of muslims like "Don't ban the quran" just to bait the far-right into flipping their absolute shit.
If you fell for it, you're part of the problem, and all it's done is prove their point that maybe they have some reasons to hate us, and the only way forward is accepting there's grievances on all sides, rather than an insistence on total and complete capitulation by one side or the other.

If you ramble about how whites aren't oppressed and refuse to accept anti-white racism as a thing, you're behaving similarly to someone who outright refuses to accept muslims might get discriminated against, both in terms of willful ignorance, and in terms of driving parts of that group to radicalize.

I see this as neither a good nor bad thing, but as a symptom, like many other things, including MRAs, the Alt Right, and similar movements. Put yourself in the place of a relatively intelligent person who never saw the inside of a college, though wanted to go, seeing multiple people on television and the Internet from an Ivy League institution who, given the grammar and spelling on their presentations (I'm looking at you, Ms. "White people stay colonizing"), obviously only got in because of the same Affirmative Action program that kept him/her out and various free ride scholarships, lecturing him/her on privilege. Go back further and this person probably has sat through 12+ years of lectures on how their people are evil, should be ashamed and that everything they've attained is tainted with the blood conquered and enslaved people, but then discovers facts deliberately hidden or outright lied about by an agenda-driven curriculum. Today they are also told the life of a thug who robbed and assaulted a store clerk then bum rushed a cop matters, but theirs doesn't.

What kind of good will is any of this expected to generate? If anything, we should be glad the frustration with these things is manifesting itself in this way and not a whole lot more negative ways it could be.
