Didn't even say that he was "unfairly slandered," but that his actions can be quite easily interpreted as him screwing with an institution which he was trying hard to discredit in the eyes of the public and persecuted with treason trials. Though I do doubt some of the historical allegations, such as that he whored out the wives and sons of senate members. Mainly because I doubt that wouldn't have caused fullscale insurrection among the patricians. I dunno though, they might've been into that sort of thing. Most Europeans are nowadays from what I hear.

As Tiberius once said of the Senate, they became men fit to be slaves after Augustus. Also daily reminder that it was the Praetorian Guard who assassinated the twit.

The Praetorian Guard in a conspiracy involving numerous members of the Senate, most of the latter whom hoped to refound the Republic. Though the Guard preemptively stopped this by proclaiming Claudius the new Emperor. Which was pretty good, Claudius was great. Third favorite emperor, below Julian.

I'm 101% certain that such a claim is false. Buddhism sank its teeth into numerous Oriental faiths, but even the Hindus beat you out in terms of influence.

In Vietnam?

Tell me more about how Hinduism is some unified religion and not just a jumbled umbrella term for numerous sects who's beliefs range from monotheism to polytheism to goddess worship. Indian culture and mythology are not synonymous with Hinduism. They feature heavily in Jainism and Buddhism, which were around well before modern Hindu schools.

I think you mean the event where a bunch of upper-middle class guys who had too much of that fancy book learnin' dared to throw a temper tantrum against the traditional way of things because they felt they were special. You know, basically every criticism of liberalism from the right ever. =^)

Could you elaborate, I'm unfamiliar with the Migration Period outside of the basic information.

Barbarians come in, dismantle Roman civilization bit by bit, leaving Euroland a patchwork of primitive kingdoms and leaving the Byzantine Empire a despotic eastern monarchy.

I assumed you were referring to all of Asia. Yes, the Oriental faiths have a great deal of cross-pollination between each other, but Buddhism is hardly the most influential of them all.

The form of societal hierarchy known as chiefdom or tribal kingship is prehistoric.

Taoism, Confucianism, Bön, Shinto, numerous folk religions, have been influenced by Buddhism, to the point that in some areas, it's physically impossible to separate them from one another. Buddhism spread farther than it's competitors and it's this spread where we can see Indian culture and mythology influencing the rest of Asia as far as Japan. Hinduism's influence outside of India is mostly minimal, with exception of a few border countries.
