Ah yes, one of the more successful religions in the world, right up there with Cheondoism and Hoahaoism .

It's almost as if extreme pacifism is incredibly impractical on a large scale (although tbf, I don't believe Jainism has ever strived to be the most influential or widespread religion) and just doesn't work outside of individual or relatively small group efforts, like monasteries.

That was more of a remark on how religions that claim to be pacifist or generally peaceful get around being pacifist when it becomes inconvenient.

To be fair, this is true. But considering this was the medieval age, I don't have a hard time believing that monks needed to use violence to defend nuns from sexual assault.

Again, I doubt that no violence was involved in Buddhism's spread.

Most of Christianity's expansion was done through missionaries as well. Some of it wasn't, but I wouldn't even say that's the majority of the spread.

It's funny how "I-it's out of context" is always the excuse; but rarely is there context provided to back that claim up.

The context is his comprehensive system of thought, The World as Will and Representation. His figurtive remarks are only to be understood in the context of his understanding of will, desire and ethics. What will is, what it does, what the world is, etc, which he goes into extensively.
