Frankly, I've only heard internet atheists complain about free will, and they complain about because they can't accept the fallen nature of man. Popular culture implies the anti-free will crowd is actually popular, and I have yet to see this.

It's a pretty central topic, but "Free will" and "Determinism" has all sorts of nuances. Are we talking predestination? Are we talking voluntarism?
