I can realize what paying 20% more for steel will do, thanks. It's not the Apocalypse

Drive up costs of consumers at home to support slightly higher pays for minimum wage workers. And then have that increase of pay made irrelevant due to everything costing 20% more because inflation.

But oh well, inflation is great for the rich I suppose.

I have to ask ye the same question as this thread at times is more left wing than the LWDT.

It's considerably better than being reduced to an economic whore of a nation that guts its own industrial sector in favour of buying cheap goods from abroad.

And if anything, mild protectionism results in deflation, not inflation. The rich do in fact typically benefit from free trade to the detriment of the nation as a whole, rather than the obverse.

Unions be dead.

Also, a bit hyperbolic: everything involving steel will go up, on average, by 20% (or close to whatever the tariff is).

Furthermore tariffs are bad because of tariff wars. So it may not just be steel that is affected.

Traditionally? It is. Conservatives such as Bismarck lurched left in order to draw more support to their fascistic, warmongering policies. Meanwhile the Liberals of Germany were united against him.

tbh the Wall Street Journal opinion section is exceptionally dangerous for ones good health. The rest of the paper is excellent and still has that dividing line
It is unfortunate though that other papers don't nor does really the cable news. CNN was the WSJ op ed section fighting with itself 24/7.

CNN was the divorced wife of WSJ, who was too much interested in celebrity and fake news.
