I think we may have a wee bit of drama queen-ism going on here. It's 2017 and the French people are doing quite well, all things considered. According to Wikipedia, France is 39% athiest.

According to the Eurobarometer Poll conducted in 2010,[4] 27% of French citizens responded that they "believe there is a God"

And then 27% answered that they "believe there is some sort of spirit or life force".

So, 54% of them believe in god.

"Marie Antoinette helped provoke the popular unrest that led to the French Revolution and to the overthrow of the monarchy in August 1792."

"Beginning in 1780, Marie Antoinette began spending more and more time at the Petit Trianon, her private castle on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles, almost always without the king. Around this time the first rumors surfaced about her relationship with Swedish diplomat Count Axel von Fersen. During the 1780s, with the French government sliding into financial turmoil and poor harvests driving up grain prices across the country, Marie Antoinette's fabulously extravagant lifestyle increasingly became the subject of popular ire. Countless pamphlets accused the queen of ignorance, extravagance and adultery, some featuring salacious cartoons and others dubbing her "Madame Deficit.""

Publicly blowing money on stupid shit in a increasingly poor country when the government was increasingly broke.

Sounds like they where making things bad for the people.

The Christian God is not "some sort of spirit or life force."

That has nothing to do with her making things bad, that has everything to do with people not liking her because she wasn't suffering.

The Holy Spirit is a little more complicated than that.

Their problems had little to do with money, and money wouldn't have alleviated them.

So the fact that they couldn't afford food or amenities while she threw money around like it was no object had nothing to do with it?

It's not that they couldn't afford food, it's that there was actually a shortage of food.

I'm saying that the Holy Spirit is God, it's not just some spirit or life force. That understanding of it would be heresy; the Holy Spirit is a person of God.

Poor harvests were the problem, money can't fix poor harvests.

Moreover, the French Revolution didn't actually solve the problem, and, in fact, many historians argue it made it much worse.

The hatred of religion and spirituality is the weakest part about a lot of the Left. Alienates a lot of people and basically serves no purpose anymore.

If the government invested in trying to improve the land and perhaps importing food as opposed to blowing it all on the monarchy...

That didn't hold true in the last round of socialist revolutions.

What constitutes "bashing"?
