Reflecting a little on your own behaviour and people's criticisms of it, especially if they tend to correlate, might be a good idea. This damages not just your own relationships with people but, given the position you are in, other people's relationship with the left.

The bourgeoisie will always regard opposition to capital as communist, and to some extent they are right, for communism arises from worker self activity in their own interests, which is ipso facto anti capitalist. Explicit communism is just the most clear, self conscious form of it.

Good comparison actually. How many Christians can say they have read the Bible critically front to end and still retain much of the knowledge it imparts? Even priests have to constantly re-read it and it's their job to lead the religion.
