Yeah...Better than maybe a large chunk of countries, but one of the worst in the developed world.

This obsession with requiring Scooby Doo confessions. By recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital Trump has in effect declared Might is Right, which means Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories will spread like cancer and may well blow into a formal cleansing campaign.

Israel didn't need Trumps approval to do that. And besides we where not the first nation to recognize Jerusalem as the capital, the Czech Republic beat us to that.

You give Trump way more credit than he deserves Gauth

So Trump is trying to blame Democrats for the possible government shutdown...apparently forgetting that he sided with "Chuck & Nancy" on funding the gov't for three months instead of 18. :lol2:

I'm actually shocked he said that since it's been well documented that among other nations considered "first world" the US is one of, if not the, most inefficient and unnecessarily expensive.

The differwmce between having official US support amd not having it, as well as the difference between having the Czech Republics backing and US backing, shoild not be understated. At best, this is misleading.

Its almost as if a business model predicated on the concept of paying for insanely expensive necessary procedures is just not feasible.

I despise the ACA, but largely because it does not fix the underlying issue thay the free market insurance system is a miserably inneffective way of providing something like health care.

That's a myth and no, pre ACA American health care was ass.

Cut him some slack. Who knows what might happen next. Everything seems to be in play everywhere right now. The genie is out of the bottle if you prefer Middle East speak. Wishing is perilous though.

I didn't know a system that's the only one in the world that causes bankruptcies of private individuals is the best in the world.

Well, given that in most of the world people with chronic conditions just ducking die... I don't think "But they didn't file for bankruptcy" is really any consolation.

The US actually has some of the worst healthcare amoung the developed countries, it's also the only developed nation that doesn't really have any form of socialized medicine.

Coincidence? I think not.

People like to assume it was just those who chose not to get insurance who were going bankrupt, yet the thing is that even fairly well off individuals were going bankrupt even when they had decent insurance if a particularly expensive problem came about.

The system before the ACA just did not work for the vast majority of people, not just poor folks. Even middle and upper middle class individuals would often find themselved SOL if something like major cancer treatment was necessary.

“Better than most of the world”

The Third World maybe. Compared to the developed world we pay double for far worse outcomes.

The ACA did little to help the underinsured. In many cases it made their situation worse, due to rising premiums they were forced to lower their insurance plans to cover less. What the ACA was good at was giving nominal coverage to more people. But as I've said before, if your goal was an insurance card in every wallet, you did Allright with the ACA, if your goal was actual real protection against medical cost reprocussions, not so much.

Source. You are aware that premiums where rising long before the ACA yes? In fact...that was one of the reasons the ACA came into existence. Also, there is a base level of care required for each plan so source on the second part as well.

And I would like to add that thisnhas been the case even before the ACA; hell it was one of the reasons why there was such loud outcry for healthcare reform in the years leading up to 2008-2009.

People who think that the high prices and poor quality is the result of the ACA have a fundamentally poor understanding of the history of healthcare in the US.

Look at the food we eat. LOL, look at what Trump eats. Outcomes are also based on too much sugar, fat and salt dumb people eat in excess. (Thanks marketing!) That sets the table.

Next the hospitals all have Staph Aureus floating around everyplace and Big Pharma won't develop better antibiotics bc of the big profit incentive isn't there with drugs used for short periods. Top it off with greedy insurance companies telling doctors what they can and can not do and you have the USA medical system, fail. Fail. FAIL!

Or they just assume it's the ACA's fault because Fox News said so and Fox News would never lie about something like that in order to force a narrative.
