So what's 4th degree assault? Poking at someone's chest with intent to unbalance?

Almost everyone. Some shocked me that even they were stupid enough to confirm, but there were some they denied, or had remove their name before any confirmation would have happened.

I wonder at what point my forlorn hope for humanity will fade enough that I can enjoy this sort of shitshow. I'm still hopeful that we can turn out for the best, despite all of this shit going on.

I can imagine they dislike the notion of wasting time for appointments when their seats will be at risk shortly.

It's backwards :p

1st degree is the lowest and 4th degree is the highest where they have a 4th degree statute.

Mind, not all states have a 4th degree assault statute though.

For instance Texas just has 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree assault, with 1st being the highest and 3rd being the lowest.

Some jurisdictions do use the 4-degree method which fills their D-class misdemeanor. But the 4th ends up being the highest and the 1st being the lowest.

It's more of a regional clusterfuck than a national one.

Even by rushing in appointees, they are doing their jobs. It's unclear if the senate will remain Republican so I can understand why they want to get positions filled as quickly as possible.
