Well CA has voted for more Republican governors throughout its states history, and outside of LA and the other major cities the state is pretty damned red so it boils down on how bad is the immigration in South California and voter turnout. Plus with some of the BS Jerry Brown has pulled with making knowingly spreading AIDS no longer a felony, and such can and would be a drag, while I do agree he has made some good moves this isnt one of them and i do think it could put him behind

Orange Co. used to be, didn't it?

The POLLS exact wording.

And you selected that option. So San Lumen is asking WHY you are "not sure about NJ".

Murphy has made marijuana legalization central to his campaign, so it's almost a certainty if he wins.

California's election is next year so this is really not relevant.

Looks like more than just the major cities to me... Even longtime GOP strongholds like Orange County are trending blue.

Whatever direction N.J. goes makes no nevermind to me. I only care about Va. but I didn't have that option.

California felt left out, so they moved their election up one year just so they could be included in this thread. Those Californians...

Well yeah, that's a given. Virginia is really the only interesting one anyway but, I do believe the country will tilt to the Democrats given Trump's popularity in some states. We'll have to wait and see.

You mean unpopularity. How many seats to you think they will gain?

I should have worded that better...

Any who, that's tough to say. Despite being unpopular, Trump did make a dent in some blue states and had large gains in red ones, and it was because of this populist wave, which he hopes will protect him. The Democrats just need to control either the House or Senate to make Trump's life hell, that's what I think they are aiming for. Of course, turn out matters but, if the right people don't come out, the Democrats or Republicans will lose and in a big way.

I assume you'll be voting for Pete Rohrman, Zurk :p

I've already cast my vote by mail for Phil Murphy.

Damn skippy I am boy

And well, that's no surprise, unless you had a change of heart and voted for Rohrman :p

If I were to vote third party, I'd probably go for Gina Genovese.

Um, way more than just LA is blue in California. Mostly the north and a strip on the eastern side is red.

Also, do we only have 2 governor races this year? Seems kinda small.

California has quickly gone from being a reliable red state to one of the most blue states in the country. It was very red in the 80s and even early 90s to some extent (see Pete Wilson and the anti immigration referendum). But since the 90s it has become more and more liberal, to the point where I would say that California is one of the few states where getting another GOP governor in is near impossible.

Yeah, I know about Arnold and all, but times were different then (plus he was a moderate).

I would still take Arnold over almost any Republican right now.

He has pushed heavily for renewables, and ending gerrymandering in general. Two things I highly support.
