This comes on the heels of a Hampton University poll that gave Gillespie an 8 percentage point lead (but that also carefully noted that many of its respondents did not know or would not say who they support, a fact that the poll quite properly said could mean Nov. 7 will turn out differently), the latest Christopher Newport University poll that found Northam had a 7 point lead, a Monmouth University poll that calls the race at 48 percent for Gillespie and 47 percent for Northam, a FOX news poll that puts the race at 49 percent Northam to 42 percent for Gillespie and a Roanoke College poll that calls the race at 50 percent to 44 percent for Northam.

Ok fair enough but what makes you unsure about New Jersey? Polls have consistently shown a huge lead for Murphy. The down ballot damage will likely be extreme as many county races are up as is the state legislature and several high profile mayor races like Atlantic City and Jersey City.

I'm not really thinking of Jersey. I just copied the poll option that I voted for. It was closest to what I thought might happen in Va.

Lets also not forget the legislature elections in New Jersey and Virginia. I wonder how many seats they gain in the Virginia House of Delegates. I hope they gain it but that is probably unlikely.

New Jersey's legislature is dominated by Democrats already and they will hold their seats (as a resident in the state, I know). Given Virginia has been leaning blue for the last 8 years, I wouldn't be surprise although it probably won't happen.

And with Phil Murphy evidently dominating the polls, I wonder if we'll get weed in New Jersey sometime relatively soon.

Democrats will probably increase their majority in the New Jersey Legislature. They already have a super majority. They are guaranteed at least one gain in the Senate. District 7. The Republican incumbent is retiring.

Well yeah, that's a given. Virginia is really the only interesting one anyway but, I do believe the country will tilt to the Democrats given Trump's popularity in some states. We'll have to wait and see.
