Should Rohingyas Be Sent Back From Bangladesh

Postby Bengal and Assam » Sun Oct 29, 2017 11:07 am

Yesterday a Rohingya killed a Bangladeshi in Cox's Bazar.Ever since we let the Rohingyas in the country, crime rate in the area has increased, muggings and other stuff.
So please tell me your opinions on whether Bangladesh should deport the Rohingyas???

First, you'll want to provide sources on the increase in crime. People will ask. Second, what's your opinion? I suspect I know but you should provide it when starting a thread.

These guys are killing people and are already making claims on Public Land.Because of these guys, the price of basic stuff are increasing. The thing that angers me the most is that a Rohingya gets three meals a day, while a homelss guy gets nothing.I've got some friends who claim to be mugged by Rohingyas, those guys had IPhone7s before their CoxBazar trip and now they own cheap Nokia3s

Nobody wants these people, and for good reason. Despite all the hype and drama, they are and always have been unpleasant sorts.

It's basically a culture of crime; religion has very little to do with it.

I would not want to be their neighbor

Curiouser and curiouser! The Bengali complaints about Rohingya refugees look quite identical to the complaints of Europeans about Muslim immigrants from South Asia. "They're criminals! They ruin the economy! They stole my job/phone/wallet! We cannot tolerate their sort here! Deportation!"

So are you implying they should be eradicated as an ethnicity? That's the reason they're fleeing Myanmar in the first place and if you don't want them anywhere else in the world there's really two possible approaches: Take political and if necessary, military actions against the Myanmar government and military so they will end their ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya; or completely exterminate the Rohingya.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.

My forebears were Irish/Scots; but Protestant.

I think there was usually a working truce between Irish Catholics and Italian Catholics. In Erie PA, the Irish college is Mercyhurst and the Italian one (and Papal Institute) is Gannon. They don't mix much but they seem to get along all right.

I think that far too much of the burden of caring for these people is falling on Bangladesh. A state that, putting it mildly, is not equipped to handle a refugee crisis.

Sending them back, though, would be murdering them.

Other countries have to start accepting refugees to ease the burden on Bangladesh. Malaysia and Indonesia, in particular, should step up. Though I have no expectation that either will.

I highly doubt either country would accept Muslim refugees who are racially South Asian, given their racial and ethnic composition. Australia could be in a better position to accept them.

They're going to face essentially the same problems in India as in Bangladesh. Resentment over resources being spent on aliens that people will say "should be spent on the already fairly impoverished native population." Only compounded because of religion.

Australia certainly could afford to take some of these people in. They're just unlikely to. For the same reason that Indonesia and Malaysia are unlikely to. Racist bullshit.

Yeah, Australia would be very unlikely to accept them. Racist bullshit reasons, as noted above.

If Australia took the lot in then they'd be looking at a 4% population increase overnight....

See: underlined.

EDIT: Also, the Cambodian Chams have said that they're willing to host orphans, and there's only 200,000 of them. And they're themselves a Muslim minority in a majority Buddhist country. And they were victims of genocide themselves within living memory.

Other people have no fucking excuse.

Rohingya don't commit crimes. People commit crimes. More Bangladeshis are killed, assaulted, and injured every year by other Bangladeshis than by the Rohingya. The world needs to stop kicking this problem down the road. Bangladesh can't cope with its own fair share of problems, let alone the problems of foreign migrants and refugees.

If they want to kick the Rohingya out over these excuses of criminal activity, they might as well. I'd like to see how they cope when the world rejects them.
