I should have mentioned that while online recipes call for lamb mince beef mince is usually used in my old neck of the Irish woods, but it's not nearly as nice so keep slaughtering the young of Blaat's people.

I did use beef mince but I picked the cheap one, too, that'll be it. It was a pleasant dish, really filling and fun to make, but it was definitely missing something.

Using beef makes it cottage pie. If you use pork, swineherd's pie, I suppose. What I often do is use the leftover meat from a nice roasted leg o' lamb, whirl it around in the food processor until it's minced and there it is. The advantage of this method is that the meat come pre-seasoned.
