Perhaps I should have been more specific. I find Antifa-style political violence to be wholly irrational.

It very often isn't, though. I oppose it, but it's not necessarily irrational. In the States it's been irrational because of the strong anti-fascist strain of thought springing from the strong mythologization of WW2 that was in our culture until comparatively recently, apparently. But in Euroland, where the authorities have a long history of rolling over to far-right elements for the sake of a little peace and quiet at the expense of unpopular groups? Less so.

Here in America, we used to hate Illinois Nazis. Now they're trying to worm their way into the mainstream again.

If we're somehow supposed to believe that Spencer could pull off the Final Solution, then why shouldn't we believe that the far-left, who's equally fond of violence and fantasies about revenge, would give us the bullet too? They already said that they would.

While his regime was authoritarian and committed numerous atrocities (that were not known at the time) it would not be accurate to call Pinochet a member of the "totalitarian right," and he was detained and indicted for trial in Great Britain. I'd wager in that in the 70s people gave less of shit than do now (the casual racism at the time was off the charts, even among liberals). The video you referenced is from a movie, the Illinois Nazi march was through a Jewish neighborhood, so publicity was bound to happen.

Not really. By the early 2010s the WW2 generations (Greatest and Silent) had long ceased to be a majority, but our mythologization was still strong.
