The Ferguson protests and riots didn't happen just because a couple of people identifying with a hashtag decided store windows were a symbol of white supremacy. As investigations in the aftermath of the Mike Brown case showed, the black community in Ferguson had suffered years of impune and previously "invisible" injustice at the hands of the local authorities. Same with Baltimore.

Blaming a broad movement with little to no centralized structure that began as a "hashtag campaign" for racial tensions today is like blaming Trump for misogyny and Islamophobia in American society. It's shallow at best and dishonest at worst.

Youre likely right, but some blasted the powder keg, and as I said, you can't fight racism by riots and terror. Because those who are racist are people and people are incredibly stubborn.
