As much as I would enjoy talking about how school uniforms are indeed not the embodiment of tyranny, or how I'd rather have modern technology than 1600s technology, the main point of the initial post based on its links is actually underage smartphone use. By that I mean people wanting to ban use of phones until a certain age.

Personally while I am against this I can see the point being made. It doesn't take much effort to see the loss in productivty and focus phones can introduce, even as they add communication capability and rapid information collection (though computers, tablets, and so on can also do this). However I don't see changing it for a certain age doing much but annoying people below said age, there's not much of a way to enforce it (parents who disagree could just buy phones for themselves and then just give those to their children anyway, and if they just keep it in the home I don't see much of a way to stop this from happening), and I don't think enough people really care for it to be worth it. Plus when they almost inevitably do get one the same issues are going to result.
