Mars or a border wall?

If you had to choose which one the US should do which would it be? Mars Direct or a Border wall with Mexico? Both have a similar price tag ($30b - $50b and $20b - $70b) and for the sake of the discussion assume they are both feasable. Also assume neither isn't an option.

Mars. I don't want Mexicans to be banned from entering the US. Plus, space is important for science and the humanity

What's your opinion OP?

Mars of course. Other methods (Like satellite/drone surveillance of the border) can be used to stop illegal immigration, but building a wall across the entire US-Mexican border is a monetarily wasteful idea.

Mars missions and colonization over the wall, definitely.

Obviously Mars. That would be a vast achievement of science, the wall meanwhile would be a monument to human stupidity.

At least doing something with Mars could prove useful.

We could build a huge and thin reflective wall (Orbital mirror) for heating up Mars for terraforming, but that's centuries from now.

MARS! If we don't expand, we will go extinct. Besides, spaceships!

Then move all immigrants there, so no wall needed :)

Going to Mars has the potential to benefit humanity as a whole, even though I'm personally not sure about whether it's worth the risk to send crewed missions yet rather than landers and rovers.

Building a wall does nothing except satisfy the ego of one particular manbaby.

We have to take great risks if we want to truly advance, it was the same thing when Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space

Which is why I said yet rather than saying we never should.
