To be fair, I thought the chocolate covered popcorn variety was actually pretty solid. Everything else was mediocre though.

Chocolate is chocolate, of course. But there are tons of others varieties, like cheese-powdered popcorn I think?
Caramel, chocolate. I think everything else has a very small pool of fans, and even caramel/chocolate popcorn has a small pool of fans too, it seems like.
Whether the Scouts are in it for the money or not, there are alternatives to popcorn and they should be looked into. If they're worried about 'manliness', then they should take a second look at the big tins popcorn comes in. It looks like a damned Hallmark Christmas card to be painfully honest.

GSA made the wanky move of phasing out all the usual camping and stuff about 20-30 years ago. Now it's all about talking to people and research. You can get a camping badge and not even camp.

This will be a wake up call for them. Even the girls in my wifes troop like what the boys do more......

I'm all for equality and all that good stuff. But this whole thing is just assinine. For cripes sake, the organization is called the BOY Scouts. I know girls can do everything guys can and all that, but certain things should still be boys only. Hell, girls have their own scout thing.

For, the problem lies is that the Boy Scout is not accepting girls in their scout-group even though there are already gender-neutral scout. I am a scouter from Malaysian's Scout Association and we have three type of scouts ; Boy Scout, Scout and Girl Scout. I am on the idea of making a gender-neutral scout but for letting girl in Boy Scout should not be advocate as it is as if letting girl enter a boy-locker.

Scout in my country is not all about leadership, but all about maturing whilst leading. We have a few skills which are optional.

I had to get this for my Eagle a couple years ago. It was at camp so it was easier since it was done in a group setting, my group made a mean Mountain Man with fucktons of cinnamon as the secret ingredient.

That's entirely different in every way, because:

1) This is one organisation rearranging its internal structure, not two organisations merging, and
2) This is about products (well, services) being changed from "pick one of four discrete options" to "take your pick of whatever combination of hundreds of options you prefer", whereas your example does nothing of the sort.

Yes, but we aren't talking about the GSA in any way. We're talking about a reorganisation of the BSA's internal structure, by scrapping the separate Venture/Explorer programs, and just having one program, with all of the options in it.

The name is wildly inaccurate. If they want to become America Scouts, or something, they can go ahead and do that. Naturally, the organization will drop in membership and doners, and another American institution will be lost to modernism.

i am in the Lions club, and when my wife was also accepted as a Lion, the rival Lioness' organization openly resented it.

Either very good or very bad. If they try to continue as they are, then it'll be bad. If they do what the UK GirlGuiding organisation did and completely revamp their program to compete properly, then it'll be good.

The amount of "hands on" has been greatly reduced. Well except for cookies which has become a major issue to them. They have women trying to run GSA like a business. They even have what they call "Journeys" about cookies now.....

Running Scouts like a business is probably the greatest threat to scouting. That brand of cancer has started to affect the BSA recently. The council whose camp I used to work for got infected by it a few years back. They completely gutted the camp's traditions and culture so they could cut costs and increase profits. It wasn't enough that our camp made money, it needed t make more money and thus everyone experienced staff needed to be purged and replaced with a private company run which promised to run the camp for cheap and make the council loads more money than it already was making. Shit like that is the real thing dragging scouts down. The genitals of the orginization's membership don't matter in the least.
