I guess for me it'd be New Jersey. It's really underrated, and gets a lot of flack.

I mean, they call it the "Garden State" for a reason.

I think the natural beauty of New Jersey is one of the best things about the state. That, along with the food. Tons of little diners, eateries, and local restaurants. Sure, you can find chain places here, but local business really shines here in the state, especially restaurants, and they're more than often really good, granted I might be speaking as someone who has only visited the North part of the state, I have had people from the south talk of various local foods and diners like they were the second coming of Jesus.

Taylor Ham, or, Pork Roll, is definitely something you'd want to try if you ever visit the state. I've yet to find a good substitute for it, and bacon just doesn't compare anymore.

So yeah that does it for me. Basically lots of varied geographical features in one small area, plenty of places for hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, boating, etc. Good food. There's a lot going for NJ that not many people seem to realize because they're so quick to dismiss it as the "armpit between PA and NY"

This, except maybe the Taylor ham. A little too fatty for me. Otherwise, well spoken.

Texas is by far my favorite, which is why I moved here. :)

Florida a close second.

Anywhere in the South, West, Southwest, or California I really like a lot.

Actually this is just off the top of my head, I need to do this more scientifically.

I think I'm in love :p

Lots of people drive on the Turnpike one time, and they decide they know the state. It is stunningly beautiful, and I get the feeling that people who visit the state never go to the right places. As someone who loves hiking, I've been to some genuinely stunning places just in my local nature reserve, right in the middle of the suburbs. The Jersey Shore (although I normally just say "the beach") is awesome, despite what a certain trash television show filled with New Yorkers pretending to represent New Jersey would have you believe.

And, of course, NJ's food is another winning quality. We have some of the best pizza and bagels on the planet, and the most diners in the country. Also, random fun fact: New Jersey has more scientists and engineers per square mile than anywhere else in the world.

The Jersey Shore, heh ... When I was growing up it was just "the shore" and when you there you were going "down the shore." For us that was always the Barnegat Peninsula, Mantoloking down to Seaside Heights. :)

My dad grew up in Monmouth right by the shore, and to him it was always just "the beach", so I kinda adopted that from him. Most other people I know would probably say "down the shore".
