Sexism has existed in society for longer than we have had the performing arts. Why do you want to cover the sexism of Hollywood up? Harvey is merely the sacrifice being thrown into the volcano, he by no means is the only offender.
I have no objection to the police following the evidence and making arrests and sending people to trial. But people are proposing an investigation into dozens, hundreds, thousands of people solely on the basis of them sharing an industry with a man who has done bad things. Not any plausible accusation or suspicion that any of them have done something wrong. Just "Oh Hollywood is full of scumbags." That is no basis for a police investigation.

As to a specific criminal investigation, your point is fair. However industries in genenal have been subject to . A legislative hearing either congressional or at the state level that could potentially lead to criminal arrests or legislation. I would support such an investigation.

So if I was to publish a phone number that's been on late night TV ads, and known by thousands of people, would it be a violation if the advertiser says that it's private? Even though it was on cable?
I'm just saying that there's a lot more here than just money and fame.

You're probably not going to get far with this, she's a woman and there's a lawsuit involved, Costa can only assume one thing. It's like in his programing or something.

No. If it was a private phone number, like someone's home phone or cellphone, it would be banned.

What if someone is running a casting business, and advertises their cell number as the number to call on the back of their van, and Google Maps takes a photo of said van where the number is visible?
You should come to Hollywood. You'd be surprised!

Perhaps, perhaps not. The settlement was for $100,000. She's also a self confessed "anti-rape social activist", as you stated in your post. The settlement she reached was for something in a hotel room that, according to the legal document reviewed by the New York Times, was for harassment. If she's not doing it to get a better settlement, then she's definitely doing it to further her public image. What if someone is running a casting business, and advertises their cell number as the number to call on the back of their van, and Google Maps takes a photo of said van where the number is visible?
Not private. But most casting businesses wouldn't drive around in vans (well not legit ones anyway). You should come to Hollywood. You'd be surprised!
Hollywood is one of the last places where altrusim is likely to exist.

Well, after the Hollywood investigation, queue one up for every other industry ever.

There were no complaints about Harvey Weinstein for years. Why do you want to cover up the sexual assaults in the electrical contracting industry?

As far as the phone number is concerned, there's still some debate as to whether it was really private. As for casting businesses - vans do make sense if you have a lot of props for casting.
They don't fit in a Prius.
With that said, let's go to Rose McGowan. If she was in it just for the money - she could've gotten a lot more than $100k.
That lowball of a settlement means that she tried exposing Harvey initially, and failed. She seems to be doing it to show that any rapist can be brought down, rather than furthering her image, because if she fails and he stays free, her image will be damaged. Unlike Jolie/Paltrow/Beckinsdale - she doesn't have the "I'm a superb actress" image to fall back on.

There were complaints about Harvey for decades, as with the industry as a whole for a lot longer
There was an article in the paper today.

An article talking about complaints made in the last two weeks about events that span decades. So clearly the electrical contracting industry could be lousy with sexual misconduct and we wouldn't know. We need an FBI investigation at once.

Source that electrical contracting industry is lousy with sexual misconduct?
Also. I don't think you read the article as it talks about, among others darryl zanuck who died in 1979. So if darryl has been harassing women in the last two weeks I will admit there are bigger issues involved than just sexual harrassment.
Oh look the head of amazon studios just resigned because of sexual misconduct.

You said that there have been complaints about Harvey Weinstein for decades. The late Darryl Zanuck is a different person from Harvey Weinstein.Oh look the head of amazon studios just resigned because of sexual misconduct.
Clearly tech giants are lousy with sexual misconduct. FBI investigation immediately.

Amazon studios where they make the vidies.
Again wide spread sexual misconduct in the industry bUT at this point that doesn't really matter, does it?

Yeah, I guessed from the "studios" bit. But I'm not interested in covering up sexual assault in tech giants, so I'm not going to oppose an FBI investigation.Again wide spread sexual misconduct in the industry bUT at this point that doesn't really matter, does it?
How's that?
