I second this, I need to know for... research

On the upside, if there is something the NSG community is pretty good at doing, it's calling out the bullshit.Unstoppable Empire of Doom wrote:What is up with your obsession with sex robots? Also can we get a reasonable option in the poll?
Yes men are bad
No men are evil
And other insult to male
Is some very poorly done polling. You've basically made up your heavily rad fem biased mind up and are trying to force everyone to agree with you.

I am a software engineer with a liking for robotics. I find humanoid robotics in general to be fascinating. And a sex robot is particularly fascinating because, by virtue of its purpose it is literally the one application where the goal is primarily and fully to achieve as near of a human likeness in all ways as is possible. And that's difficult and fascinating and something robotics in general has been struggling with for a long time. So the subject is fascinating to me.

Robots are fun...but then that is my area of expertise. What makes this one in particular so fascinating is that they not only have to look human like, they also have to feel somewhat human like. I actually think that might be the harder part of this entire thing.

Well, I've been reading some of the more academic articles on the subject, and it appears the main problem with the material being used is warming it. Humans produce a lot of heat energy that keeps our skin warm. However, keeping a robot's skin warm requires more energy than we really can invest in it unless we want to keep the robot plugged in all the time. Otherwise, it drains the batteries fast.
And skin that feels like human skin but is cold or room temperature creeps us out.

That was mainly what I was thinking about actually.

There's some fairly promising research (from Toyota, of all people) for batteries that are solid state and can be charged much faster and, in addition, would have twice the energy density.
If that works out, we may be able to have warm touch robots - they'd need to charge every hour or so, but if charging only took 5 minutes, that's not a big deal.

Actually it makes sense for a car company to be looking into batteries, especially if they are looking to get into electric cars. I will look into this batter thing since it sounds interesting.

Sex bots give men options, because women are no longer the gatekeepers of sex. Western feminists still need men to rape women so that they can go to the government and demand stricter laws regarding how men and women interact with each other sexually, because ultimately, Western third wave feminism is about establishing control over men and putting women in a position of power and privilege in society, even more so than they already are now. Sex robots threaten that because men will no longer need women to be sexually, and eventually emotionally, satisfied. Remove women from being the gatekeepers of sex and the whole third wave feminist agenda goes to shit.

That's like suggesting that there's no difference between an unmanned spy drone and one of those miniature drones you can by off Amazon. You're a self-professed expert in robotics, right? Surely you can see the difference between what is essentially an inflatable pool toy and a piece of machinery that feels and acts as close to a human as technology currently allows us to get for a reasonable market price.
