What is your thought on marriage?

Postby Keshiland » Sun Oct 01, 2017 11:01 am

Marriage is declining in America, more and more people are just cohabitating instead of putting a ring on it. There is a number of reasons why people get married and why they don't want to get married.

Reasons why people want to get married.
1. Tax cut
2. Stabe home for children
3. Love for one another
4. Religious pressure
5. Family pressure
6. Social pressure

Reasons why people don't want to get married
1. Risk of losing assets in a divorce
2. Sharing assets
3. To expensive
4. Want to enjoy life and live free not ready to settle down.
5. Does not love anyone enough to marry them
6. Wants to have kids but not have to be tied to the spouse.

I think times are changing and that by 2100 marriage will be a thing of the past.

No poll option for "No, because it's the worst possible outcome for men."

Needs better poll.

Where's the option for people to say that they do not require a certificate from the state or some religion to validate their love?

My reason for "wanting" to get married is so that I can have a stable home for my future children. Other than that everything minus tax cuts sounds horrible, once all the kids are off on their own I will probably divorce and only keep in touch with my kids cause no kids to look after means no more reason for the marriage

You know it's really not that simple right?

Depending on who's getting married and what their tax situation was, it might be be a tax cut, a tax increase, or little to no change.

When you look at the rate of how often the man loses in divorce cased like with kids and stuff its literally because most men don't fight for custidy those that do get it about 50% of the time.

I doubt that is anywhere near correct.

And there's more to it being the worst possible outcome than legal ones.

I think marriage is beautiful. Not only do you vow to take care of your wife in front of God himself, you even make yourself responsible for her sins. If that isn't a sign of love, I don't know what is. Plus, marriage is the best thing that can happen to you, especially if you're Muslim. Imagine spending the rest of your life with your ideal woman happily ever after.

Poll needs "No, other reasons" option. Marriage throughout most of the world is needlessly complicated.

What a horrible, horrible sentiment. And they say love is dead(!) I hope you tell your wife that you are only in it for the kids, and you will ditch her at the first opportunity, or when she becomes inconvenient for you. How sad.

I like the thought of a long, lasting stable union. To me, that's what marriage should signify whether I would have a wife or a husband in the future I wish for that type of environment.

Yes, once were are empty nesters there is no more reason to stay married. Staying married would just be boring and depressing, got to keep in touch with your kindred and go live life to the fullest without being tethered to someone else.

And here I thought people chose marriage mostly due to the fact that a couple just genuinely loved each other, as opposed to economic or social reasons, and wanted to make their commitment to love each other (and no other) known to their family, friends, and community. Boy, silly me.

No, other reasons.

I'm 1) against marriage as a legal term, 2) not a member of any religious community that offers the rite, and 3) prefer to take any relationship with other people on a day-by-day basis.

On a serious note, I highly suspect that "marriage" (in some form or another) will forever and always remain an institution in our society - certainly so throughout our lifetime.

So your future wife would be nothing more than a baby-making machine for you, that you will ditch at the earliest opportunity? How degrading and demeaning for the poor woman. Note to all women: stay the hell away from Keshiland, if you want a future as a person, not as a machine to be discarded.

I personally forward marriage, but like what was previously mentioned; Women have a high factor of legal stature than men, leaving us in a tight and most possibly unfair position in marriage. Which leaves me unsure about marriage...
