I appreciate you being calm about this, but saying that its racist isn't really going to change anything. I was only poking fun at North Korea, and now i'm being told I can't do that and it really rustles my jimmies. I would back down if my original post was about Japan or China, but it was about North Korea.

Farnhamia didn't say you can't make fun of North Korea. People make fun of North Korea all the time - but again, NationStates General is a debate and discussion forum, not a spam forum. Your aforementioned "BEST KOREA NUMBAH ONE" post just doesn't contribute anything to the thread, plain and simple. For instance, if I make fun of how in the North Korean "histories," it's widely believed that Kim Il-Sung was a marksman at nine (or younger, I forget), and able to empty a magazine into a target and all of his shots were bullseyes, that would be still be contributing something constructive to the thread. What you did was far from that in that all you did was string together a bunch of words in a manner depicting East Asian stereotypes.

And you're right. Calling your post racist doesn't change anything about just how racist your statement was.

Thank you for being frank about your inability to hold a rational argument with somebody outside your conservative bubble. Nothing you've said has made your case any better, only proving that the most you know about the Kims and North Korea is that they're easy to make fun of and that all you know about East Asia are a bunch of stereotypes.

No no, I started with something insulting. However, I ended with a rational argument, something which you're yet to come up with in relation to the topic and to your objection of not being able to blurt out a string of racial stereotypes that has no bearing to the discussion at hand.

Telling me that I cannot make an argument with anyone "outside of my conservative bubble" is an insult, as it is you telling me that I can't speak up against anyone that doesn't share the same views because i'm too "close minded" and "dumb" to do so. All I did was make a joke, if I wasn't supposed to make jokes, then I was completely unaware of such a rule. I always found that ironic in all honesty, considering how the hamburger/cheeseburger is a major symbol of America. Maybe he wanted people to think America was heavily influenced by him? Either that, or else he had a hamburger, ate it, and said he invented it because he knew none of his citizens knew better anyways.

Probably the latter. Not like North Korean citizens have the means to fact check their leader's B.S. When you have total control over how much of the outside world your people see you can make up whatever you want.

Well it's hard to say since the North Koreans aren't releasing their latest history textbook. But I assume it's mostly filled with pictures of the past two leaders and a shit load of propaganda.

We have superthread for North Korea (viewtopic.php?&t=417499), but nevertheless North Korean propaganda peddles myth after myth in an attempt to present themselves as a lot more happier than it really is.

Some megathreads become dominated by a clique of regulars who go there only to bask in their own horrific inside jokes and unrelated semi-spam. In that case, creating a separate thread is perfectly justifiable.

If anyone ever pays attention to North Korean propaganda, you normally notice that there's usually a disconnect between their interpretation of history and reality. Basically human civilization starts in Pyongyang, they're pretty responsible for pretty much everything ever invented, blah blah blah, that kind of bs. Eventually in the 19th century Korea is invaded by the evil Japanese than the even worse Americans until the mid-20th century when the glorious leader Kim Il-Sung repels the evil Americans without any help from any country whatsoever, and here we are in the present. I give they're historians points for creativity.

My question while they see themselves as the greatest civilization in human history and America as the land of hedonist devils, what is their history for the rest of the world? I'm mostly asking about Europe, Africa, and South Asia.

I tried asking before in the North Korea thread but I never got an answer from there so I decided to try starting a new discussion in case you're wondering.

A bit of a tangent but apparently in China it is commonly taught that the US crossed the Yalu river and that is why China joined the Korean War. They are also taught that China has never fought an aggressive war and that China should encompass the area of the height of it's imperial ages.

The US is a cluster**** since education is relegated to the state level. Thus 50 different histories emerge.

Britain/Canada teach that the US lost the War of 1812.

Etc etc etc

Many nations, many viewpoints.
