I reject the notion that an ice cream sandwich is a sandwich. The name is an intentional misnomer for humorous effect. It is a satire on the sandwich. If I were to take two flat rocks and wedge some dirt between them, could I call it a sandwich? No. Structure is not everything. Ingredients must be part of the definition. Therefore, an ice cream "sandwich" is not relevant to this discussion.

Yes.

Pineapple in a sandwich is no more ridiculous than putting it in a burger. The moon sandwich is absurd because it is inedible, hence it is implicitly assumed out but it's more a sandwich than a Big Mac is.

I'd say anything so long as it's between tow pieces of sliced bread. I'd consider a sub more of a baguette or roll than a sandwich.
