Well, I do remember that although only 13% were stopped by unarmed bystanders, that a number of the suicides occured shortly after just about any old thing fouled up their killstreak.

I wouldn't call them a "bat thing", but I guess that is what he is referring to. It makes it sound like the police here carry around cricket bats or something. I wrongly assumed that Keshiland would have known what a police baton was, since the police in America have their billy clubs/nightsticks etc too, so I guess it was that assumption that threw me off the scent.
