The debate for and against school choice is a well-known one. Some say that parents should have a right to choose a school for their children, others say that it's better to make every child from a certain district go to a certain school.

And what position do you have?

Personally, I support school choice.
I think it's good for fighting inequality, as the quality of children's education wouldn't depend on the parents' ability to pay for a house in an area with good schools in such a system.

Instead it would hinge on their ability to pay for an expensive private school for a decade or more per child. Yay for fighting inequality!

Personally, I find it better that certain districts allow the people residing in said districts to just go to a school that is chosen prematurely. It makes it easier to catalog where a student is in case of emergency, and also makes it easier for the parents as they do not have to worry about which school their child goes off to based by stereotypes for that area.

School choice is when you can send your kids to any public school.

Every areas or districts should have atleasr 1 public school following a common syllabus set by the govt.This will reduce inequality and also,we should shut down private schools so that the rich kids don't get to live a 5star school life while others get the same stuff supplied by the state.

The only practical way I can see school choice working as an option is if the only one with choice is the parents.

IE, schools can't choose their students. Only parents can choose their schools. And if there's too many parents choosing X School for the staff, the only way to resolve it equitably would be via lottery.

Only if it can be done without taking resources away from public schools and poorer areas.

That wouldn't be a good solution. Kids would be sitting on buses for hours and it would take valuable time away.

That seems like an extremely complex and chaotic plan which would massively increase every school's administration budget. If you take the USA then each van would have to travel kilometres just for one child living in a different state to all the others. Plus it would pump more co² than the current system tripled.

Seems pointlessly complicated and potentially retardedly annoying for the kids who actually have to sit through all the travelling time in bus.

As for my own opinion, I think school choice with some of the local ones being forced to accept you would be the best.
Or just area ones and more scholarship for private schools for smart kids would be the best.

I doubt holograms will ever advance to the point where they can compete with a classroom full of students and teachers. Even if they could, the company making them wouldn't wish to spend the expense required to make this when the high price would mean most parents would opt for reality instead.

Give kids under 18 a free bus pass, parents can send kids wherever they want and school gets money based on number of students and student improvement at end of year.
