I once attended a liturgy on Mount Athos for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross that started at midnight, and finished at 8:00 am.

Without any toilet breaks.

GOOD GRACIOUS.

HOLY LONG IS EASTER MASS UP THERE?!

That liturgy was probably a fairly good chunk of the divine office, an all-night vigil, and the divine liturgy all one after the other. Some western rite monks'll hold tenebrae in the early morning, meaning they'll recite the entire divine office from sunset the previous night to sunrise the morning of all at once, starting at midnight or so.

Where should I start with Bible study, dear friends? I'm supported by firm conviction and wish to learn more. It appears that many of you here have a profound understanding of the Bible, so I approach you here in the interest of honest opinions. So far I haven't received substantial or sincere aid from other sources.

Read through the gospels. Several times.

The stories of Adam and Eve, Abraham, and Moses are probably the bare minimum of essential context for the gospels.

Daniel is also worth reading because it's a good story, and an interesting artefact, even if it's not especially important from a theological point of view.

My teacher would recommend reading the book of John first, then the rest of the Gospels, then Genesis, then Romans, then the rest of the Epistles. :)

I don't think it can be amended. Well, without one conquering the other, at least. iirc the closest we've ever gotten to amending would've been during the First Crusade.

What about Russian Emperor conquering Rome and making Pope kneel? Would it be enough?

Yup. So enough would be, if Pope recognized authority of the crowned monarch being above him. That only God is above the Autocrat.

Because when problem started? When bishop of Rome, for some reason, thought for the first time that everyone should bow to him.

HEY EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS BIZARRE VIDEO (think about the miracle of the sun in 1917, Fatima, Portugal):

https://youtu.be/BlFMai5egvc

The user made 4 observations of which 2 can be easily explained but 2 cannot:
1. Mysterious celestial objects = specks of dust on lens
2. Rainbow rays = rain droplets left on lens
3. SUN FLARE-UP INTO HUGE BLOB
4. SUN DISAPPEARING BEHIND TINY STREETLIGHT
(2:58 ~ 3:53)

Seriously, our sun is massive in size compared to the earth and moon but due to immense distance it appears about the same size as our moon - even kindergarden kids know this!!! IT SHOULDN'T HAVE VANISHED.

" 12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasherb? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. " (Joshua 10:12-14, KJV)

I say there were more morally corrupted Popes than at least relatively moral ones. They had too often mistresses or 'special male friendships' and committed various acts of debauchery even more often.

Honorable modest-living autocrat conquering Rome and capturing disgusting hedonist with big hat would be probably approved by God.

I'm not sure how to respond to this without sounding rude...

The sun being momentarily blocked by a streetlight on a shitty camera isn't really a big deal. It looks weird, but I'd bet on camera glitch or some weirdness to do with the camera's processing of what it sees long before 'flashlight sun' would ever enter into it.

Chemtrails aren't real. I'd go into deeper detail but I forget the exact explanation of how the atmosphere can react to a plane going through it in some circumstances which causes some types of those clouds.

Don't worry I'm not so easily offended! Thank you for your honest response.

Contrails are made by hot air exiting jet engines condensing into ice crystals when encountering cold air at high altitude but these eventually disperse quickly. As seen in the video, a contrail left behind by a small private jet dissipates but the larger CHEMTRAIL probably left behind by military hercules plane or converted passenger liner, lingers on and on SIDE-BY-SIDE it shows atmospheric temperature to be in same range (able to snap-freeze moisture) +HUMIDITY (edit).

As for 'flashlight sun' and the miracles of Fatima and (I read somewhere Pope Pius IX saw small sun-miracle too before proclaiming the dogma of the Immaculate Conception), here is my hypothesis:

It's not out there. Why get consumed by end time things, when end times things have been proclaimed every century. What makes this one so special?

The Byzantines spent the best part of 1000 years convinced that the end times were imminent, and interpreting many historical events in the light of Orthodox eschatology.

And eventually, in 1453, they were sort of right; in that God's one appointed Christian empire finally fell to unbelievers. And can you prove that we're not currently living in the millennial rule of the Antichrist?

In that sense, predicting the imminent end times is a lot like predicting the imminent death of Shane MacGowan; practically everyone's been doing it for as long as anyone can remember, and eventually someone's bound to be right.

But likely not for the reasons they thought they would be.
