Okay, have fun with that denial.

So are Americans. Is there an American plot to crush the EU?

No, it's people funding other people they like.

And government (Russian or American) should just leave that alone, you think?

Or is there some distinction between funding legal activities of "other people" and funding illegal activities ...

Because they're trying to sow discontent and raise tensions in the West, in the hopes of dividing us and capitalizing on our division to revive their imperial ambitions and relive their glory days. You should care because they're undermining our political systems in the hopes of destabilizing our political systems and radicalizing the populace, which ideally would lead to greater division and tension and conclude with the fracturing of the West. This is why whether or not Trump is Putin's lap dog is irrelevant, simply by being himself he causes increased tension and political polarization, as well as hurting US credibility and straining our foreign relations. And if none of that works, the Russians are more apt to throw weight behind right-wing nationalists, which from what I've seen are not your cup of tea. So, you have a vested interest, if only politically, for keeping Russia from meddling in our politics.

'Fraid not.

My favorite bit is this: "Goldfein noted that in a world where 'we’ve got folks that are talking openly about use of nuclear weapons,' it’s important to remain alert and think of new ways to be prepared." Coming from the Trump administration, this is just a little funny to me.

Never mind. It's more a "neither deny nor confirm" statement, 24-hour alert not being taken off the table.

Damn stupid waste of money if they did it though

Wonder if all the people who chanted the Clinton Is Going To Start World War 3 mantra feel any unease? Probably rationalizing this to themselves more likely.
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

That's an easy one. Trump is dealing with the inactions of former presidents. He's defending our democracy and stuff. Clinton would have just thrown a dart at a map and pressed the big red button.

That's my take on this anyway...

Also I feel distinctly uneasy over any president or candidate who talked about war as casually as most did during the election cycle last year.

...isn't having them on 24-hour alert kinda standard? Before this did they get to go home and chill for a few hours every day, and we were just like "well hope the Russkies don't try and smack us tonight"? That seems kinda sketch.

Jeez, it'd be like a modern version of Ra or Huitzilopotchli's nightly voyage through the underworld or whatever.

No. Even our airforce isn't on a 15-minute standby beyond DEFCON 3. It'd be more accurate to say that not everything remains on a ready alert. It costs tons more money to keep things in such a status (example, we don't field our entire stockpile of warheads).

How the fuck would raising tensions improve the state of Russia? How is Russia destabilizing the political systems? Why would it make them a better nation? Sounds like a conspiracy theory. Putin is wasting his time if he thinks the west can be fractured the way you're talking. Not to mention our tensions and discontent towards Government is totally justified because our government is fucking us over.

Again this all sounds like denomization, turning Putin into this unstoppable boogyman, in order to kick start a new Cold War.

So Myesha Johnson said Trump was being a disrespectful douche during his call to her, and pretty much verified Wilson's account.

Trump, being the brilliant person he is, took to twitter immediately to essentially call her a liar.
