What was that one during the campaign, where the media found he'd promised some donation and he only sent the money at that point? I forget the details but it was a fair piece of change.

I hate this story. I get that it speaks to his and the Republican narrative where they dry hump “the troops” in an attempt to be more patriotic than their opposition. But I also don’t feel like it’s new information-trump says poorly thought out shit and lies about things that can be verified. In the meantime we’re rubb salt in the wound of a family that lost someone as this story drags out. It makes me uneasy. I don’t know that I would have run it I was a news director, I’d feel bad either way but at least I wouldn’t involve a greaving family. I’m not “concern trolling”, I get why it’s a story I just don’t like the inherent vice it has.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Ive heard that might be illegal but it seems when a republican does something its ok. If a Democrat had done even half of what Trump has done they would have been impeached already.

I was dreaming. Then it happened.
There was an eagle, and heron, and a midget giraffe. Then everything was suddenly burning.
The sky turned green and it rained the bubonic plague. The oceans turned red, and they smelled of sulfur, and I saw rocks falling from the sky into sudden fissures in the Earth.
Rivers of liquid basalt poured from the mountain tops and the air turned to brine. The sun turned black and the sea receded to expose ancient creatures that rose up and tried to devour me, but were swept away by hazy winds of grey dust as nuclear bombs finally descended upon the world and all is lost in blue mushroom flames, like a forest of fungus suddenly grown to feast upon the dead world.

Hundreds of thousands of years later the sky was blue, as was the ocean, and the land was green and lush, with great stone structures rising between the trees.

Then I woke up and looked at Trump's record so far and thought he could be a little more choicy with his words, generally.

Existentially sure.

I had a dream where great spines of rock rose from the ocean, parting the surface and surrounding the great continents. The seas rose and swallowed all that was dry, and clouds gathered everywhere where there was water, and so the entire sky was covered in gray. The sun did not shine and so the poles froze ever southward or ever northward, until they met in the middle and all was cold. Death did not come to the world, however, and one day the great sea spines punctured back down into the depths, and the sea covered them, breaking the ice and making less water surface. The clouds began to part, as did the ice, and dry land was renewed, as well as life.

Then I woke up and yada yada yada.

As far as Trump's behaviour goes, this is normal. I wouldn't expect him to be able to be honestly sympathetic to a stranger.

Maybe there should be a line in the paperwork when people sign up for the military, "If I die in the line of duty, I [DO / DO NOT] want the sitting President to call my family". Updateable each election.

You want another source on an interview that was originally conducted by their own journalists? Or another source that minorities are marginalised by voter ID laws? Or evidence that voter suppression helped Trump win?

I would be interested to see the last one, sure. I don't think Trump won because of those laws. However, they do marginalise minorities disproportionally.

This is unsurprising, given that Republicans do tend to benefit from low turnout races, and further they are well aware that conservatives are and increasingly will be in the minority in terms of actual people, and that the GOP needs to prop up its existing majority for as long as is humanly possible.

Generally I just like to have more than one source on a thing.
But yeah, more sources on the last one, and maybe the middle one, would be good.

You'd need Alex Jones ranting about voter suppression as "credible source" at this point.

Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
