You will get free video games for the rest of your life (ex New Battlefield came out? You can snap your fingers and get a free copy).

However, as a consequence, you will be obligated to, for the rest of your life, vote for the party in your political system that resembles the Nazis at all and any given point in time. The party might be a small almost non existent group or it could be a somewhat major political party, it just depends on what country you live in. Any time an election comes up, the electoral machine will magically consider it a Done Deal that you've already voted for the "Nazi" party. For the rest of your life you will be adding 1 vote to the far right wing... For many people, this means that your right to vote is gone.

Please note, the deal is being offered to You only.

Remember what we've all been trained to think. Remember people, the right to vote is sacred. The right to vote (every one person's vote) is essential to the functioning of democracy and for the sake of freedom. The Founding Fathers died (or at least had other people die) so that we can all cast a piece of paper every once in a while to decide which rich popular kid will rule the town. I am obligated to repeat this otherwise it wouldn't be a fair presentation of the scenario. Having said that...

Do you accept or not accept the deal? Please explain your justification either way.

Absolutely. Free video games? Absolutely excellent deal. I could benefit from this on a daily basis.

One vote every year for the Nazis really won't do anything. However, I understand that many people would feel that their right to vote is sacred (even though statistics show that their one vote does nothing). My one vote cannot change anything, even though its advertised as sacred. So I gladly forsake it.

Why the hell would I lock up my vote for something as paltry as video games? Especially if I'm forced to vote for a disgusting party like the Nazi party. Come back when you have a MUCH better offer.

Because once you realise your One Vote is useless (it will never decide the outcome of any election, you might as well have not cast it or cast it based on a coin flip, no effect)...

You realize you have nothing to lose in accepting the deal.

How many people have to explain that your one vote isn't useless? Just because it's part of a collective by no means makes it a "useless" vote.

If the collective achieves the same purpose... with or without your One Vote (the same person gets elected) and your One Vote doesn't add anything to the governance outcome (the candidate doesn't get more formal/informal powers because he's elected by N or N+1)

It is useless

And this is the case

The collective cannot be the collective without its parts. Your vote is one of its parts, whether you like it or not.

How many elections get decided by a single vote.

Nevermidn the fact that this is assuming a "Nazi Party" would even get the backing necessary to get 50+1 in this day and age.

So i ask again why bother having elections in the first place then? Im really sorry that every election isn't decided by one vote. Your extremely selfish and self centered with your attitude. People not voting is how Trump got elected.

Why not rig every election so its decided by one vote? Then you'd be happy because any one vote could have decided the election the.

So, just to be clear, any power or right you have that is useless outside of collective action is useless entirely because the collective nature of the power renders it worthless?

You sure about that?

I don't really think answering this question would help establish whether a person should or shouldn't take the deal.

I could say "We shouldn't bother with elections at all, lets get rid of them" and still vote "No" to the deal because I am blinded by hatred for Nazis...
or I could say "We NEED to keep elections, otherwise there would be unchecked power" and still vote "Yes" to the deal because I think my One Vote is unimportant...

the above or a few thousand other combinations...

I would say you should ask a more relevant question because there's no logical nexus between whether someone thinks elections should be rigged or not and whether or not they would take THIS DEAL in the OP

The totality of all of the relevant factors.

For this issue though, your One Vote does absolutely nothing (you don't vote, you vote for X instead of Y... your One Vote does nothing to affect the outcome)

you foresee a future where nazis could be elected into mainstream power through the operation of one vote?

also, if we get to that point (where society considers the nazis a very viable mainstream power choice), you have to wonder if that society is still worth saving at all

Probably an attempt to get people to actually vote.

There's quite a few people that think their vote doesn't matter so don't bother. Turns out if they did, they'd be able to swing elections. Like that French Presidential election where absentee votes won second place.

That's a weird thing to say, given voter turnout in 2016 was higher than in 2012.
