Do You Want Trump To Be Successful?

So I keep hearing the stupid and dull line voiced by nearly everyone on all sides of the political aisle it usually goes something like this: "Well now Trump is our president, so it is time we unite together as one, and all hope that he will be successful in the office". Not only does the first part ring hollow to me, but I don't agree with the second part. Let me cut to the point, I don't want Trump to be successful. I want him to fall on his face (figuratively) and not be able to get up (again, figuratively). In other words, I want him to fail. Why? Because for me, a theoretically successful Trump presidency means that his policies will be successfully implemented, of which nearly all I despise, and a successful Trump presidency would nearly spell a second term in office. Of which neither I would care for. What do you thing NSG? Do you want Trump to epically fail, are you an eternal Trumpian supporter, or are you not being careful for what you wish for... or something else?

I want his administration to be successful insofar as everything doesn't fall apart and go to Mad Max.

I'd prefer it if he wasn't super successful with his goals.

I'm a moderate liberal who supported the Democratic Nominee against Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election. At the start of Trump's administration, I sincerely hoped from the bottom of my heart that I was wrong and that Trump would somehow pull off a miracle that would improve the nation's international standing, fix income inequality, restore American infrastructure (this I legitimately thought he might be able to pull off) and at the very least, should he fail in all these tasks, not make the country go into a shithole.

It's what, month eight of his Presidency? The only things he has accomplished are banning transgenders in the military (which I do not recall him emphasizing on the campaign trail), ending DACA which is a horrendous decision opposed by the vast majority of Americans, hiring and firing a large number of his staff, not getting much done in his first hundred days and humiliating America's international reputation.

At this point, the man is hopeless.

The whole unite together is overrated. It's only when great chaos breaks down like there's literally cities burning and everyone is afraid to come outside then it's okay. However, people are too civilized but I don't want Trump to be successful

Anyway, I would want him to succeed in some ways and perhaps fail in others. I want him to be successful in keeping up with his duties as president, although on the topic of certain policies I might want to see him fail.

His domestic policies are not a big concern for me. They do not affect me, and what's more important, I hold neglible influence in trying to change them.

I want him to do a good job - I do not want him to achieve some of his more ill conceived and dangerous goals. So far, however, has has been pretty awful and incompetent. I don't expect this to change.

What do you mean by 'successful'?

If you mean in personal goals, everyone claims he wants different things, from "augh, Nazi!" to "augh, Soros puppet!" conspiracy theories. There's so much contradictory reporting and gossip about Trump that no answer wouldn't have a bunch of people screech in anger. And that's if you can even get anyone to agree on his motives in the first place.

If you mean in leading the country, sure. A stable presidency, even a controversial or outright unpopular one, is better than a train wreck like Hoover. Heck, even gridlock and inaction like with Buchanan would be better than a 'failed' presidency. Everything I know suggests it's beneficial for the country as a general group of people, regardless on if you believe it would harm some groups, simply because we'd stagnate instead of moving backwards (unless the 'literally hitler' conspiracy theory is true, but I doubt it).

I'd highly contest the 'looks pretty good' part. He's a fat ass with skin and hair so bad they are practically memes.

The other things, yeah, he's had a pretty successful life by some measures.

As for the OP question, I'm hoping he fails at most of his major plans but doesn't ruin the US in the journey. Also I hope he learns when to successfully not tweet like an angry twelve year old.

If he actually did, somehow, made good on his promise to give everyone "great" insurance coverage and have it be "beautiful" then... great.

Do I want Trump to be successful at his personal goal of having everyone talk about how great he is all the time, forever... not really.

Even as a foreigner who dislikes what the American Imperialism and Exceptionalism has become in the world, I don't want to see the people of America suffer anymore than they are currently and I don't want to see the country fail (although California and Texas breaking off as independent would be cool)

I want the Trump regime to maintain stability and people of the US to remove Trump as soon as possible

Of course, if Trump manages to completely fuck the economy somehow and everything does go to shit, this will suit my personal goals of probably bolstering mainstream support for a social democratic/socialist alternative.
Doesn't mean that route is desirable what with how awful America's poverty problem already is now.

The critical question is define success.
He has faced opposition (and essentially, failure) over his Muslim ban, wall funding, healthcare reform and probably tax reform soon. From the courts, the government and the public.
These are his landmark policies, which were always stupid and in several instances plainly illegal, and the failure to push them through quite obvious and enjoyable to watch.
The Muslim ban is dumb on all levels; repealing Obamacare would leave 22 million or so Americans in the toilet, medically speaking; the wall is tied for being as dumb as the Muslim ban, I daren't try and compare the two.

Do I want him to keep America running, be unable to significantly change anything and not fuck everything up?
Yes.
Do I want his landmark policies to be successful, grant him a positive legacy and give validation to him and the hate groups that support him and those policies? Fuck no. And I applaud the frustration that he is experiencing.
