This article is using terms that are usually more specific for a broad strokes characterization of broadly different groups.

Anarchists are not always antif, antifa are not always anarchists. Sometimes for example, tankie Marxist-Leninist queer feminists engage in antifa activities, and such an individual would not in a million years want to be ideologically associated with an anarchist, for a variety of reasons, other than their combined opposition for fascists. Therefore, actually tracking 'antifa groups' will lead to a HUGE variation in beliefs and activities, from literally people just writing letters to political prisoners in the US that will sometimes attend antifa events to those that only engage in anti-capitalist, antifa, violence while calling for the violent overthrow of the government.

I mean, like I said, unless we have some official poll within the group (which, mind you, is disunited as all hell), there's no way of making that call.

I don't walk into a house party and ask for polling data before assuming the rough spread of partygoers age, gender, ethnicity etc. It's called common sense. Antifa are predominately ancoms. This is known among far-left circles.

Here's hoping antifa AGs continue to keep nazis and fascists running scared and unemployed for years to come.

they don't like the US government and capitalism, da fuck you mean "stand for the US"

I didn't know burning American flags was being "Pro-USA"

Yeah, in the US flags are supposed to be disposed of through burning.

What a shame for those guys then.

Also, source on like all of those?

The last one was a bit of a joke. But what? Would you like links to Antifa showing up at free speech rallies, the No To Marxism rally and conservative speeches on college campuses?

Or do you just want a list of the people they don't like?

You're a socialist, yes? Or I assume you are.

Do you mind Antifa using violence? Yes or no answers only, please.

Loyalty to what? Social constructs that have no meaning?

I did not expect someone with a Sonnenrade to speak so much like a postmodern cultural Marxist. I am amused, thank you.

My flag is purely for RP purposes, but thank you.

I thought only right-wingers used the phrase "cultural Marxism".

How very interesting.

It's significant to realize how those rallies are named though. Considering the modern use of 'cultural marxism' to discuss the gradual shift away from conservative social values, and the fact that what is called a 'free speech rally' has more to do with yelling slurs at people and just generally being rather bothersome, I don't really think protesting against those events is that radical, extreme, or violent.

My issue with Antifa is that the American network is highly disorganised, strategically and ideologically. That is my issue, not the violence they use. Now what is your definition of terrorist?

No, it has a real meaning. It's traced back to the Frankfurt School, and the derivatives thereof, who took Gramsci's writings and ran amuck with them on the CIA payroll.

It doesn't really matter what you think.

Their acts of violence speak for themselves, and you desperately trying to make excuses for them speaks quite a bit about you.

You misunderstand. It's not about what I think, it's promoting a decent discussion about the topic instead of simply dodging actual arguments and baiting each other, because I rather like seeing good discourse.

I don't have any problem with violence by antifa, and would love to see more of them being active, as the movements actions have been rather limited. This is neither here nor there, since that's not why I'm posting here.

And I would love for all those who advocate, encourage or otherwise condone political violence to have it unleashed upon themselves instead of sitting in their comfortable rooms happily spewing bile on the internet while people get their heads cracked open for voicing their views, free from any consequence whatsoever.

Nah. Assume the best, and at the same time assume the worst; try to guess the intentions of your friends and your foes on both ends, but don't act on either assumptions without appropriate reason. Otherwise that's how you end up stabbing your friend in the back and in turn getting your throat cut by your foe.

How is assuming antifa is predominately anarchist, based on what I see around me all the time, going to kill me?

Unless AntiFA is specifically acting to dismantle the government entire, you might be inadvertently screwing over your allies within the group by dismissing them as reckless Anarchists.

The mayor of Berkeley CA is cracking down on free speech, greatly limiting it, out of fear of the antifa.

Something is wrong here, and I do not think it is the speakers (with whom I disagree)

Anymore my views of Antifia have grown some what more positive. In the past 8-9 years the extreme right has grown more violent and now no longer hides in the shadows, now that they have some one in DC that will defend them and use "Whataboutism" as an excuse.

The OPs entire argument directly uses Whataboutism and has proven unable to defend his own arguments with out attempting to deflect and blame others while ignoring the direct realities that neo-nazis and white supremacists now only help to entice and inflame tensions and use violence.

Effectively this entire thread can be ended with "Pot, meet kettle".

As the nazi symphatisers rose to power, the government started to issue warnings about people opposing nazis.

How utterly unexpected.
