Maybe. Maybe it's just Katrina is the first real natural disaster I can remember on the top of my head, so hurricanes that are bad stand out to me more

there has been no major ones between Harvey and Wilma (2017 and 2005 respectively) so it is a perspective thing.

Nah, we've had at least two major hurricanes every year this century besides 2013: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_ ... ason#2000s

The center of the storm will not be hitting PR. The High pressure system in the Atlantic ocean which was pushing the hurricane to the WSW is losing pressure thus the hurricane will be starting to move to the NW. But in the meantime, the Northern Leeward islands could feel a close passby. After that, the Bahamas and anywhere from Florida to all the way up the east coast could have this hurricane visit them.

You see the hurricane. To the North of it you can see that high pressure system in the middle of the Atlantic which is pushing the hurricane SWS. Has it losses pressure the hurricane will turn to the NW.

It wasn't just a lack of preparation. It was also the size of the storm and the amount of rainfall. The category numbers are based on wind speed, but having a lower wind speed doesn't mean you will have less flooding.
