I will repeat Omar Bongo's quote because I think it sums the situation perfectly. "Africa without France is like a car without a driver. France without Africa is like a car without fuel."
The relationship born of imperialism is symbiotic and mutually beneficial. It gives people in desperate need of a frame benevolent administrators to help them develop themselves and it gives the aforementioned administrators an easier access to resources they lack of. Everyone wins.

The CFA Franc is an awful concept that only constrains individual country's macroeconomic freedoms, which anyone who looks at Greece can tell you is a bad thing. 2. They were protesting nuclear tests for political purposes, but they were not using violence or intimidation.
3. WTF!? Why do people describe all political movements they hate as "terrorism", like Turkish pro-democracy activists?
4. One really ironic fact - I actually support a nuclear deterrent, I just do not condone use of violence on peaceful anti-nuclear protesters

Central government now lost the last chance to solve it once and for all and lawfully, in addition, as they yell from the start, that rule of law is the thing here.
Fresh elections would solved it once and for all and stopped all debates if independence or referendum happened.

Of course, if Rajoy knows that 75-80% would vote for 'rebels' anyway, he should say so and stop pretending that Spain is still democratic state.
