Great American Solar Eclipse

I don't know you guys, but I am very excited that the solar eclipse will happen on August 21 (which is soon). Approximately 9 states will gets to see the total eclipse which is very cool (but kinda sucks for me since I live in Arizona and Arizona is not on the totality path).

Since the blood moon last year, this will be the most exciting event (even though it will only lasts about two minute).

What do you guys think?

Tourist. Money.

Tourists are spending even more money here than usual and it is fucking great. We even get a day off from school!

It'll be cool to see it too, I guess. I just hope we don't get killed by our lizardmen.

The NASA "Five Milleniums" catalogue of eclipses appears to have been taken down for a dedicated website extolling the virtues of this upcoming eclipse.

En route to NorCal for it! Sadly, issues prevented my group from being able to secure lodging anywhere close to the zone of totality before everything sold out, but we should be able to get north of 90%. I think I may have found the last pair of Celestron's solar binoculars in all of SoCal earlier this week. :lol2:

Drove through Central Oregon today and there was a large campsite with maybe 200 tents and RVs. I've been to that area 3 times in the past month and it's advertised literally everywhere. I'll be watching it myself but I don't get the long distance travel.

How bad's the traffic situation? I've got friends up near totality who have reported that the traffic situation the past week has been just godawful because of the eclipse tourists.

Eclipse map shows New York getting between 60-70% coverage, so it'll be noticably dimmer out your way, too. Pretty much the entire continental US (and a sizable slice of Canada and Mexico) will get at least a partial eclipse because of how this one tracks across the country.
