Try jumping and spinning 930 degrees. That sorts out a lot of treason-related problems.

You should give it a try. Being good and wholesome feels good sometimes :)

I’ve done that. I vomited up rainbows and glitter. Never again.

There's a hawk or eagle flying around my complex.

I can tell, cause you can hear it yelling from the trees.

Eh, it's just the initial cleansing. It's all uphill from there. :p

Wut? Nope.

Collectivism sucks.

That a thing is defined only by its relation to another need not mean that that thing and that other thing are one and the same, just that they may be part of the same group.

Ah, birds of prey.

Once when I was a really small kid, my dad told me there were turkeys their owner set free... I think... about two blocks from where we lived then. Dunno if it were true, but there were real big birds on the roof of that turkey lover's house whenever we drove past them. Apart from that, the only non-chicken big birds I've ever seen are eagles... I think... zoos aren't my fave places... cooped up in cages, pecking at their feathers or having a staring contest of sorts with their observers.

Well, not temporary. Mostly business as usual.

Living in Southeast Asia is great, but the timezone is not.

Saiwania wrote:I couldn't stand an office job if I were seriously expected to attend after work gatherings, do gossip, and other such nonsense.

I want to be at a job to work, not to make friends.

Being more of a drone suits me better. I want to show up on the dot, do only the activities that're expected as professionally and excellently as possible, and leave on the dot every single day. And not have workplace politics, drama, and other distractions muck stuff up for me.

Everywhere I go I'm "not a good enough fit" and I wind up only resenting whoever or whatever might be the cause. Ideally, they should adapt to me and I shouldn't have to adapt to them. But if they outnumber me, I have to roll with whatever they want even if deep down- I despise having to impress anyone or any group if I feel only the results I bring to a business in terms of productivity or money should matter.

It seems in this world, you often can't be yourself if yourself its not good enough and you have to at least fake a certain persona while on the clock, even if you'd be completely different if you had free reign to do or be as you wished.

There has just got to be a career path out there, where you aren't penalized for not mixing business with pleasure. Where you could do things on your own and have only the work you do matter, rather than who likes or who hates you within some corporate hierarchy.

Well you could consider coming to East Asia/Southeast Asia to teach English; its what I did.

The money's not THAT great but its still above what you'd earn waiting tables or bartending.

If you're a white faced foreigner they honestly care little for what qualifications you have/don't have. White Privilege is counting for less and less in the developed world but over here... it's still 100% a thing.

I've heard that some of my colleagues pocketed twice/three times as much pay as we do now in Thailand (they'll literally do ANYTHING to find some western faces to teach English). I'm in Hong Kong and its not very regulated here (Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand are riskier in terms of security but the money's many times higher potentially).

And these guys aren't college intelligentsia; they just did some random educational certs online, fixed some cars in the States/Europe or something and then came over. No education degree from uni or anything...

Of course... its stupidly hot and humid over here and there's some living condition problems. And obviously you'd have to navigate through a foreign culture and language... not to mention land prices are a bit broken unless you find a good rent.

It's worth exploring as an option though. Barriers to entry aren't high.

However, there are definitely downsides. For instance, its obviously NOT an option if you absolutely cannot stand children and 100% demand respect (they will not respect you and you may end up feeling like an over-glorified babysitter).

But its not like an office or corporate job where you have to sit in all day doing doc review/taking phone calls and then when you make the slightest mistake they %$^&% all over you (that stuff is just anxiety-inducing)

like you, I 100% cannot stand office jobs which is part of the reason why I left the law... the "performer" aspect of teaching suited me a bit better...

That feel when you've booked two weeks off work and then immediately get a middle ear infection that means you're spending it in bed with yellowy-green crusty liquid oozing out.

Anime making me expect that within couple coming years I’ll accidentally adopt/become care-giver of a small child, and they become light of my life as they turn it upside down.

Either that or a direct-to-video comedy.
