Hi! Hardcore atheist here. In my opinion, you can be religious, but neither I nor anyone else has to approve of it. Still, I don’t think we should just pound people for being religious. I’m fine with religious people, I’m not fine with religious fanatics or zealots, or anyone who takes the word of the Bible over the word of modern science. They’re just endangering themselves and others. I try not to be a jerk to religious people just because they’re religious, but I don’t hold back when I encounter a zealot.

I actually enjoy having civil discussions with religious people, sometimes we even both learn something. What I don’t enjoy is dealing with zealots. The sharing of ideas mutually and the discussion of each idea is productive. The “YOU’RE A HEATHEN THAT WILL BURN IN HELL” isn’t (I’m looking at you, Vaukiai).

One of the worst, though, I’d say. When they don’t retain their civility, and resort to kindness and representing their religion. At least be nice and respect that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
