I don't know. It may make a difference since Northam is the Lieutenant Governor and McAuliffe has had a proactive response to this.

Yes I fear it's going to get worse, the sad thing was that a lot of people on both sides created this situation, people have been driven into a siege mentality and it's not going to get any better.Luziyca wrote:Yeah. And considering the migrant crisis in Europe (and associated tensions), Brexit, the rise of the alt-right, as well as climate change... is it a surprise that I feel that the world will get worse?

It's a reference to this: (Sort of)

It's self-deprecation, or making fun of someone by suggesting they have a highly irritating voice. In combination with pepe and shitlords identifying with pepe, it became something of a generic "I'm butthurt" sound/word.

... Is that frog supposed to be the alt-rightist or his opponent? Why the fixation with frogs? The alt-rightists are frogs and so are their enemies?
What an odd group.

Someone pointed to PEPE the frog and said this is the alt rights mascot. Then well the Alt right sort of ran with it. No one really understands.

Pepe the Frog was created as a cartoon with no political meaning. The alt-right began to use him as a symbol for some strange reason.

I know this, I just don't get it. And its creator then "killed" it and etc. etc.
But if the alt-right is a frog, and its opponents are high-pitched frogs... Then... What the fuck is with all these frogs? Why frogs?
Like... Inherently, they're a stupid mascot. The eagle is frightening, the lion, etc. The frog is just... Symbolically, it's stupid.

That's arguably the point.
It's the means by which toxic politics can be advanced through absurdity.
If you just straightforwardly argue for the extermination of the jews, it won't get as much traction as doing so in a ridiculous manner. It's a method of overriding the emotional response people have to the message.
If your mascot is a ridiculous screaming frog that makes people laugh or roll their eyes, you can slap a caption about gassing gays under it.
There was a good article on the method and how it's basically one of the main tactics of the alt-right.

Why would anyone find a ridiculous frog with a message about getting the Jews or the gays amusing?
