Didn't say that I was blaming Trump. I was offering a TL;DR of the situation. Underestimating NK is a bad idea, we should be watching them and never blow them off as never going to happen.

That's why we have joint U.S.-Korea exercises to maintain caution against the rogue regime.

Yes, I've been telling Thermodolia about this in another thread.

I'd rather be safe than sorry and unprepared.

It's North Korea. The situation is different.

I do not follow.

Sorry I totally forgot about this; I really apologize.

What I mean is that they are using the fact that the leaks occurred, and focusing on that as a means of ignoring the content of the leaks that can actually damage Trump (or, in the case of the hacks, Hillary).

I was mainly referring to her statement, sorry for not making that clear. With regards to this situation though, stating that the U.S. is willing to use force is needed, as the example of Obama's Red Line failure shows. If you recall, Obama threatened action in the event Assad used chemical weapons (Now, whether this actually happened is another matter), and then failed to follow up on this. Such is now pretty widely recognized as having emboldened other groups, such as Iran, Russia, and North Korea.

Remember Trump isn't Obama. Not to mention a pretty good majority of the American public believe that NK is a threat to our freedom that needs to be dealt with sooner than later. We really didn't have that with Syria. But Trump did just say he was open to the use of force he seemed to implie that he was open to nuking NK

Which is disturbing. Nukes should be an absolute last resort. But that's what happens when you elect a guy who asked why we don't use nukes...

They'll probably just blow themselves up in the process.

Which is irrelevant in the face of the same geopolitics. Don't believe me? Look at the Airfield strike. Although it's clear Trump favors Assad (And for good reason), the airfield strike was done in order to restore the credibility of the U.S.

Stating such threats is essential, as implying options are off the table removes strategic surprise/uncertainty, which can embolden North Korea. Further, given we're talking about nuclear weapons, showing MAD is still in effect is necessary lest you open a wider Pandora's box.
