I would just get a lot of cold water, myself. I don't chew gum much, largely due to a childhood interdiction against it by my mother who told me that it would block my digestive tract if I swallowed it like I did with most foods.

However, gum resin isn't digestible, so if you swallow a lot of gum your intestines have to work extra hard to get rid of the resin, leading to pretty bad stomach pain.
